Who knew that negative Nancy (that's me by the way) would be preaching about the power of positivity, because without a doubt I'm a glass half full kinda gal. It's a funny ol' thing because if you know me I'm a happy, positive type of person but my negative Nancy thoughts are reserved solely for myself and basically anything that I'm doing. I will encourage people to fulfill their dreams, and always try to put a positive slant on any negative situation they share with me. But then I get to myself and what I'm doing and I'm all kinds of the opposite.

The boy is possibly one of the most positive people I know and unknowingly has taught me so much about putting positive thoughts out into the universe and working towards making those things real. At first I used to laugh at him, because anything I've wanted or done in my life I've worked hard for and achieved - which is great considering my negative stance. Like, I'm not grump old man negative, but sometimes I don't believe in myself and the skill set I possess. I give importance to thoughts like 'I can't do that', 'what if I fail' or 'someone might be better than me', but where is that getting me? Focusing my attention on the negative is producing negative energy. In-turn the negative energy stops me from doing, trying or achieving something new - how messed up is that!

So if energy flows where attention goes, then my attention has to be on the positive, which isn't easy. Our brains are designed to protect us and it is actually easier to think negatively, which makes sense and sometimes is for the best (we all know never to touch the fire). But sometimes our brains make decision for us that aren't helpful and giving more importance or attention to those negative thoughts can lead to a negative outcome. So pay attention to your thoughts, be conscious of where your mind is. The next time your sitting at your desk, driving your car or waiting in line think about your thoughts - if it's negative then redirect it, an easy way is to think of the opposite of what your thinking or deciding what steps you might need to take to create a positive outcome.

Don't get it twisted some of the negatives in life can define us and shape us into the people we are, without some of the tests that are sent our way we may not appreciate the gifts that life has to offer. Nothing is perfect so having negative thoughts will be normal, but interrupt those thoughts as quickly as they came into your head. I encourage you all to try it with me, its a journey and some days are better then others but if one positive thought can change your whole day, then it really must be worth trying. xx
